A mindful meditation practice allows you to observe your thoughts without becoming attached to them.
Sit in as quiet of a space as you can find. Set a timer for one minute.
Count your thoughts. Each time a thought pops up, count it as one. Numbering of thoughts doesn’t count as a thought.
See how many thoughts occur to you in one minute.
The highest number I’ve encountered is 43.
Thoughts are no more controllable than manufacturing white blood cells or perspiring.
Are you surprised about the number of thought per minute you have? More? Fewer?
Where do thoughts come from?
How might having a more constructive relationship with your thoughts improve anything for you?
